If the same thing is done in a country like Japan where there is a high score in the Power/Distance dimension, then the boss will be offended by the lack of re spect from the subordinate. The third most important insight that Hofsted contributed to the study of international business in the context of culture is the idea that there is a way to measure long term orientation. This is very critical when it comes to introducing something new to the company.
